Refugee rights

With conflict, persecution and climate change-induced disaster, a staggering 70.8 million people worldwide have been forced to leave their homes.
Around 41 million people have been left without a home within their national borders, a further 25.9 million have been forced to flee their countries in search of refuge abroad and a shocking 3.9+ million people are in fact stateless – with no home to call their own.
For these individuals and families, this brings ongoing hardship: poverty, bureaucratic barriers and the process of ongoing integration into a new community and/or country.
Worldwide – including here in the UK – the movement of people feeling conflict, poverty and disaster has also been met with heightened negativity including the unjust detention of asylum-seekers and toxic narratives around migration and refugees, including the rise of xenophobia and anti-refugee sentiment.
Here at Voice of Salam, we believe that everyone has the right to a safe home, to prosper socially, culturally, economically and politically and to be respected and included by others.
We welcome refugees, migrants and asylum seekers from all backgrounds and are shocked by the ongoing false and hate-fuelled narratives around migration.
That’s why we continue to raise awareness of the reality (difficulties) of migration, refugees and asylum-seekers in the UK, Europe and beyond and to fight for the rights of refugees and asylum-seekers everywhere, whilst also calling out hate in all its forms.
Our message is one of truth, inclusivity and positivity: you are welcome here!
